Parent Letter:

Dear Parents,

Hello and welcome to ninth grade biology! I am excited to welcome you to another school year, and I would like to introduce myself.  My name is Ms. Christina England and I recently graduated from Maharishi University of Management in Fairfield Iowa, with a Master of Arts in Teaching. I love teaching and I am looking forward to getting to know your children and introducing them to biology – my favorite subject.

I believe that communication is an essential factor in the process of learning and in the education of your children.  I will be communicating with you throughout the year to keep you informed of your child’s progress and also to tell you about projects, fieldtrips and activities we will be working on in class.  I would love to hear your comments and feedback throughout the year as well, so please feel free to call me at home at: 641-472-5118, or email me at: christina_nc@hotmail.com.  We both want the best for your child, and I would love to work with you in any way possible to make your child’s educational experience as rewarding as possible.

As the teacher, it is my responsibility to create a pleasing and productive classroom environment in which all students will feel comfortable.  As a part of this, I have created a set of rules for the students that I believe will lead to a happy and successful class.  The rules are divided into three categories under one main theme – respect.

Rules for Ms England’s Class:

Respect for self –
  • I will always do my best
  • I will participate with a positive attitude during classroom activities
Respect for others –
  • I will stay on task without disturbing or distracting others
  • I will respect my classmates, teachers, visitors/guest speakers, and substitute teachers
  • I will respect all ideas given in class and will not criticize anybody’s ideas or thoughts
Respect for school –
  • I will raise my hand to speak
  • I will enter and exit the room quietly
  • I will complete all assignments on time
  • I will follow directions the first time they are given

Next week the school will be hosting Back to School Night to give parents an opportunity to meet the teachers hear about what their child will be doing over the course of the year.  I will be discussing the curriculum and answering any questions or concerns you may have regarding your child’s experience in my class.  I look forward to seeing you at Back to School Night and communicating with you during the year.

Sincerely,
Ms. Christina England
