Dear Parents,
With school under way, I'd like to take a moment of your time to welcome you to the sixth grade and to introduce myself. My name is Mrs. Heidi Walker and I have been teaching people of all ages for 30 years. I completed my undergraduate degree at University of Oregon and received my master's degree from Maharishi University of Management. Recently, I went back to school to get my K - 12 Certification with endorsements in English and Social Studies.
I am very interested in making this a successful and happy school year for you and your child. To ensure this success, I would like to keep the lines of communication open. I respect the fact that you know your child very well, and so when either you or your child feel worried, please contact me. Likewise, if there is an activity or project that you enjoy, please let me know. I am available at school until 4:00 P.M. each day. I will be contacting you throughout the year about projects, upcoming events, the nice things I see your child doing, and problems, if any arise.
In a few weeks our school will have its annual Back-to-School Night. At that time I will discuss in detail the academic program, my discipline procedures, grading and my goals and expectations for this year. There will also be a display of books and materials that your child will be using during the year. I encourage you to attend this special evening because it will give you an opportunity to understand the fourth-grade program and to become better acquainted with the room and materials that your child will be using throughout the coming year.
